Overview

Vagabond is unlike any place you’ve ever seen. Their modern interactive wine bar offers a truly unique experience inside what was once an old Birmingham bank. The bar even has a real life tree inside it and a secret vault which we hope to book for a wine tasting for the future.

This evening we have a booking to share some lovely gooey cheese, with some light bites and glass of fizz, perfect for a wintery evening.

At the venue we'll also find over 100 wines from around the world available to try with their unique self-pour wine machines (or beer). And when they say 'for you to try', they mean it. Tap with contactless and select a wine to sample as either a taster, or by the glass. With organic wine, independent wine, premium wine and Vagabonds own wine, they have plenty to choose from, meaning you have lots of reasons to keep coming back. Above each wine, you'll spot our shelf talkers with tasting notes to help guide your selection.

What is Fondue? Fondue is a Swiss dish of melted cheese and wine served in a communal pot (caquelon or fondue pot) over a portable stove heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread and sometimes vegetables or other foods into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. It was promoted as a Swiss national dish by the Swiss Cheese Union back in the 1930s.

Today our booking includes the perfect blend of Swiss Cheeses, served with toasted baguette, thyme & rosemary potatoes and pickles.

We can wash that all down with our glass of Jean Comyn 'So Blendy' Champagne, which pairs perfectly with our snacks and fondue.

Is this for me?

No Fizz? No Problem: If you'd like to enjoy the fondue experience but don't drink, we can book you on still at a reduced price, just contact the office to discuss this.

Wine not your thing? Don't worry, they also have a range of cocktails, craft beers, spirits and mixers and a great selection of non-alcoholic options, to ensure everyone has a drink to enjoy!

Luckily for us, the Birmingham venue not only serves beer but have their own self serve craft beer walls. Each with their own unique selection, some new and some familiar, you choose and simply tap & pour!
