Dunham Massey Walk with Pub Lunch
Overview
Today we are off to Dunham Massey for a gentle stroll around the fabulous grounds. We will start the walk from the Swan with 2 Nicks and head over the river and along the lane to Dunham Massey. Once there we will walk around the deer park and grounds with time to stop for a brew or an ice cream along the way before heading back to the Swan with 2 Nicks for our main course lunch.
Please dress for the weather and wear stout footwear.
Please note: Dogs are welcome on the walk however our booking is in the restaurant so we cannot take dogs in to the pub when we are having the meal
An interesting fact: The Most Asked Question......The Name of the pub! By ancient customs, The Sovereign owns the Swans on the River Thames, but additionally The Vinters and Dyers companies each have the right to a game. From 1878 - 1996 when the young cygnets were born, they were marked with one nick, or two nicks on the beak, according to the markings of their parents. One nick denotes ownership by the Dyers and two nicks by the Vintners, these marks eventually grew out and disappeared as they grew. So now you understand the origin of the “Swan with Two Nicks”!
