Overview
Join Spice South Coast as we explore the Jurassic Coast, England's only natural world heritage site, as well as Poole and Brownsea Island located in Poole Harbour, a National Trust-owned nature reserve famous for its red squirrels, deer, and diverse birdlife.
On Saturday we shall board our minibus and catch the early morning ferry over from Sandbanks to Isle of Purbeck ready to start our tour of the Jurassic Coast. We shall stop off in Swanage for a cliff top walk around Durlston Country Park and spend lunch in the pretty village of Corfe Castle before spending the afternoon at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
Sunday we shall make our way to Poole. Poole’s harbour, quay, and beaches provide unique opportunities for exploring the great outdoors. The area is packed with fantastic attractions to explore, whatever the weather. .With stunning views across the harbour to Brownsea Island, relax and refresh at one of the bars and restaurants, pick up a gift in the Georgian town full of history or visit the Museum, or take a harbour cruise from Poole’s bustling working quayside. Get a bird’s-eye view of the Sea Music Sculpture by Sir Anthony Caro, his only site-specific publicly owned sculpture in the UK.
You may choose to board a boat over to Brownsea Island. Autumn is a good time to be rewarded with a sighting of the red squirrel although there is plenty of wildlife to see all year round on the island and things change with the seasons. Take a walk through the woodland or down to the lagoon, and don’t forget your binoculars.
