Historic Althorp House and Gardens Visit
Overview
Join us for a visit to Althorp House and Gardens.
Althorp has been home to the Spencer family for more than 500 years, and contains a fascinating variety of pictures, furniture, ceramics and fine interiors.
Famously, the late Diana, Princess of Wales is buried on a private island on the Althorp estate. While you cannot walk to the actual gravesite, you can look across the lake to view the island and a distant memorial urn. Visitors can also pay tribute at a lakeside temple dedicated to her, where flowers and tributes can be left.
Althorp do not offer guided tour however there is a one-way walking system through the house, with information boards and knowledgeable room attendants throughout the route.
You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or picnic to enjoy on the lawns around the Great House and in the picnic area, overlooking the Deer Park.
Tables and chairs are available to enjoy your lunch in the picnic area.

Location & Itinerary
The entrance to Althorp House is a 15-minute walk from the West Gate visitor’s car park NN7 4HQ.
To explore the ground to the Princess of Wales Memorial at the oval takes approximately 30-minutes from the West Gate car park.
Althorp do not offer a shuttle to and from the gates, please be prepared for a considerable distance to walk.
WEST GATE VISITOR ENTRANCE – NN7 4HQ
The Visitor parking is located outside of the West Gate Entrance, parking is free and pre-booking is not required. For Sat Nav or Google Map directions, please enter NN7 4HQ or what3words – Fighters.crank.sailed.
The Disabled/Blue Badge parking is located inside the grounds and access is through West Gate, parking is free and pre-booking is not required.
Please note that East Gate Entrance is for coaches and mini buses.
