Meet the Alpaca's at Meadowcroft Farm
Overview
Come join us for a walking and feeding experience at Meadowcroft Farm Alpacas.This is an intimate, family-run animal experience located off Lowercroft Road on Slaidburn Drive in Walshaw, Bury. Originally born out of a shared passion for animals between neighbours Deborah Fretti and Deborah Lyall-Brown, the farm started with just three alpacas. It has since grown into a thriving herd of 12. Run by the hands-on team of Deb and Deano, the farm offers visitors a scenic country escape.
The Alpaca Walking Experience at Meadowcroft Farm is an intimate, fully interactive countryside trek that lasts around ninety minutes. The session begins with a personalized introduction to the herd of twelve alpacas where the owners share safety tips and explain each animal's distinct personality. You are then paired up with your own halter-trained alpaca, such as local favorites Woody or Buzz, to lead across scenic fields with expansive views of the local landscape and a nearby lake. After completing the rural walking loop, the experience transitions into a free-roaming paddock session where you can feed your alpaca using food bags.
Please arrive 10 minutes early. Please no open toe shoes, don't want to get your tootsies accidentally stamped on!
Includes
- The Trek: a 90 minute trek where you will guide your alpaca on a harness through rolling fields and past a nearby lake. The trail offers expansive, panoramic views of the Greater Manchester and Lancashire countryside
- Interactive Feeding: After the walk, everyone returns to the main paddock area for an energetic feeding session
By Car - head out of the town centre via Clerke Street and turn onto Angouleme Way. Follow this road heading west, then turn right onto Walshaw Road and continue straight into Walshaw village. Once you pass through the village, the road becomes High Street, where you will turn left onto Slaidburn Drive. Drive right to the end of this road and look for the black security gates at the entrance of the farm track.
