Walking with Linda: Lord Mayor of London Procession, St. Paul's Cathedral & Bank of England visits
Overview
Join Linda for the Lord Mayor of London Procession, St. Paul's Cathedral & Bank of England visits & walk.
This event has two start times to suit the individual preferences of participants.
If you wish to start this event with free entry into St. Paul's Cathedral, please meet me on the front steps of St. Paul's Cathedral by 08:30. The doors open for free entry at 08:30 and the entry queue quickly grows after that that I will be in the queue before 08:30 and plan to enter as soon as the doors open for visitors. We will go through airport style security checks before entry.
This Cathedral free visit only occurs once a year on The Lord Mayor's Procession Day. The Crypt is included but you would need to buy a ticket if you wish to climb the 528 steps up to the Golden Gallery.
If you opt to arrive a bit later and so arrive after I've gone in, just join the queue and gain entry in turn.
If you choose not to join the St. Paul's Cathedral visit element of the day, meet me on the front steps of the Cathedral by 0950, ready for a prompt 10:00 start on our walk.
We will walk via back streets to see the floats and Procession lining up, ready to participate in the Procession. When the Procession moves off at 11:00, we will walk to the Bank of England which uniquely opens on a Saturday on the Lord Mayors Procession Day.
We will enjoy free time in the Bank of England Museum to explore the exhibits independently and will then meet at the front door to walk to our lunch stop.
At about 12:30pm we will visit the Counting House Fullers Pub where I have reserved tables for us for lunch (at your own expense).
After lunch, we'll walk out to the River Thames and along to the Tower of London where we will cross Tower Bridge to the south side and head for Southwark Cathedral where you might like to treat yourself to a cup of tea and a piece of cake perhaps.
We will then make our way to London Bridge rail and tube stations from where you can make your way home.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays.
The walk needs to depart on time for the comfort and enjoyment of those who have arrived on time. Thank you. Linda
