Sunday Walk: Parbold and Harrock Hill Windmill
Overview
This walk starts from Mill Lane in Parbold by the Canal and goes by easy stages through pastures to the summit of a hill overlooking the Lancashire Plain. From here the views can be quite outstanding, with not just Bowland but also the Lake District and Wales to be seen on a clear day. Blackpool Tower is almost guaranteed! The windmill atop Harrock Hill is in ruins unfortunately, but with enough of the structure standing to give us an idea of how big it was.
The walk also takes us through the lovely grounds of Harrock Hall.
The walk has just under 800 foot of ascent so not to be mistaken for a flat walk but it is in the main achieved through gentle incline!
