Overview

Today's walk starts at Clifton Country Park and proceeds through woodland and along the banks of the River Irwell before we cross the motorway to take the Outwood Trail. A short climb takes us up to Hurst Wood for our lunch stop. We then make our way back through Ringley Woods and back to the park.

Getting There

From Swinton, travel along Manchester Road (A666 towards Kearsley) until the country park is signposted. Turn right down Clifton House Road, then turn right down Dow Brow and under the railway bridge.

From Kearsley, follow Manchester Road (A666) until the country park is signposted. Turn left into Clifton House Road, then turn right down Dow Brow and under the railway bridge.

DOGS: Chris welcomes well behaved dogs on her walks. They need to be kept on a lead if we are walking amongst livestock, whilst we are eating and at all times if there is someone on the walk who is nervous of dogs
