Scavenger Hunt in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury
Overview
A fun way to explore the park in a small team looking out for answers to various questions about the park. Although we have called it a scavenger hunt, in order to be as Covid safe as possible, you will not need to pick anything up.
We will organise you in to teams when you arrive, and your task will be to explore the park, and find the answers as you go.
Location & Itinerary
Crow Nest Park is in the grounds of a former country house and has been laid out as a public park since late Victorian times.
We meet in the car park near the park's buildings. Please see the section headed Getting There to be sure you come to the correct entrance.
There are several entrances to the park, including two on Heckmondwike Road (and one further down the hill on Cemetery Road). You must use the one on Heckmondwike Road near to the park's buildings. It is the entrance that is not next to a zebra crossing.
From the Dewsbury Ring Road, take the Brighouse / Huddersfield (A644) road, also signed Ravensthorpe and Crow Nest Park.
Get into the right hand lane and shortly after the dual carriageway ends, take the first allowed right turn signed Heck'wike (B6117) and Crow Nest Park, into Temple Road.
At the end of Temple Road turn slightly left onto Heckmondwike Road and the entrance to the park is almost immediately on your right.
Parking spaces are very limited so you may have to park on the nearby road.
Public transport: The nearest bus stop is Crow Nest Park served by bus 213. Walk up the hill to the park entrance from this stop. Alternatively, it is around ¾ mile walk from Dewsbury railway station.
