Manchester Police Museum visit with optional lunch
Overview
Today we visit the Greater Manchester Police Museum, one of Manchester's hidden gems.
The Museum was founded in 1981. Funded by Greater Manchester Police, it not only collects and preserves archive material and objects relating to the history of policing in the Greater Manchester area. Staffed by retired GM Police volunteers, who are happy to chat with visitors, the museum acts as an important resourse for community engagement. The building is bigger than it looks from the outside! Displays show various aspects of the history of GM Police. The old police station with cells is re-created at the rear of the building, and upstairs is an old court room complete with dock. There's a small gift shop by the entrance. Toilets on the ground floor. There is no cafe.
The optional meal is at BAB Kitchen & Bar in the Northern Quarter. They offer unique 'babs' and meze dishes. You choose from the menu on the day - they do a lunch offer too which looks to be good value, you can take a look at their menus here (please note they cannot cater for coeliacs)
