Today we will have an exclusive guided tour of the aircraft on display at East Midlands Aeropark.

The Aeropark is both an aviation museum and a viewing area where you can study the preserved planes of yesteryear or watch the modern aircraft of today taking-off and landing at a growing international passenger and cargo airport. Within the Aeropark there are two viewing mounds which are just 170 metres north of the main east/west runway of the airport. The mound at the eastern end of the Aeropark is the height of the airport perimeter fence which gives an unrestricted view across the airport perfect for taking photographs. The static aircraft that are on display are all outside which gives a better viewing and photographic experience. Internal viewing of the aircraft is made available subject to prevailing weather conditions and staffing and serviceability of aircraft. In addition to the aircraft on static display there are very popular viewing mounds where you can view the movements at the International East Midlands Airport, there are picnic tables on the viewing mounds and throughout the site. The Aeropark is accessible to all however open aircraft are not accessible by wheelchair or motor scooter or pushchair. The viewing mounds are grassed areas and therefore are subject to the prevailing weather conditions and therefore may be inaccessible to wheeled vehicles at times.

The Aeropark has a collection of 28 complete air frames on external display within the park with another 5 aircraft under complete restoration and 4 aircraft sections.

Inside the hanger there are a number of aircraft engines including a Rolls Royce Avon, Rolls Royce Gem, Rolls Royce Spey, Rolls Royce Viper, Bristol Hercules and Gyron Junior, along with a Link Simulator and numerous other aircraft components, photographs etc.

After our guided tour you can continue to wander around the site if you wish or visit The Aeropark Cabin café for refreshments.
