Comedy: Outside the Box Comedy Club @Stockport Garrick
Overview
This has become a firm favorite Comedy Night from 'Outside the Box' at Garrick Theatre in Stockport where we hope you can join us, we had a great time last time.
Outside The Box Comedy Club started in Kingston in 2006, founder and comedian Maff Brown wanted to a create a comedy club that everybody wanted to go to and every comedian wanted to play. Showcasing the cream of the comedy circuit along with Big name acts trying out bits proved so successful six months after launch it won Chortle's Best Small Venue award. Recognized in the industry for its warm, friendly and fun vibe, star comedians began to use the club to try their material before bringing it out on tours and TV. Continuing in popularity today, Outside The Box has expanded to venues right across the UK including our very own Stockport!
Why not join us for food ahead of the Comedy Evening for our Early Meet & Eat at Berretto Lounge Stockport
Tonight's line up is:
Liam Farrelly: Liam is a young up-and-coming Scottish comedian from Paisley, who started performing stand-up aged 17 whilst still in High School and who immediately went into comedy full-time after graduating. Liam’s stand-up is story-based and his material is uniquely personal—you could say his unusual family have provided him with a goldmine, as his sister and an aunt are both nuns, he has a wheelchair bound parent with MS who has a wicked sense of self-deprecating humour, and other close relations are in various degrees of deterioration.
Samantha Day: Samantha is the sassy, stand-up mum of six Millennials/Gen Zers. Her comedy career kicked off about six years ago, after three decades as an accountant and single mum. Now she’s been freed from the city, she’s really hit her stride, as a truly original act who’s progressing fast on the circuit.
Andrew Bird: Born in Northampton and brought up in Towcester, Andrew moved to London three years ago at the age of 21 to pursue his comedy career. "I used to work part-time in a pub in Towcester and used to think of stupid things to say to make the old blokes laugh. I started making notes of them so I wouldn't forget and next thing I knew I had two massive note pads of this rubbish! So a few people said to me: 'you should do comedy', but it's not that easy to do when you're in Towcester." Andrew has played at:The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Screaming Blue Murder, Headliners, The Comedy Café, Bound and Gagged, Mirth Control and on the Avalon Comedy Network. 'One of the hottest prospects in stand-up'-Time Out
MC Hayley Ellis: Hayley is a former regular sight gag contributor for the Russell Howard's Good News television programme. (Avalon Television) and has also written for 8 out of 10 Cats. She has appeared on MTV’s “Why aye love Geordie Shore” and “Comedy Set Lists” for Virgin television. She can also sometimes be heard on your wireless. (Absolute Radio) and her sketches and jokes have appeared on Newsjack (Radio 4)
