Spring Ball at The Candlelight Club
Overview
Join us for Spring Ball at The Candlelight Club which is a clandestine pop-up party with a 1920s speakeasy flavour, in a secret south London venue lit by candles. You'll be whisked away to the Gatsby era with a heady mix of live jazz music, cabaret, vintage vinylism, delicious cocktails and a party crowd all dressed up in their finest 1920's outfits, inhibitions loosened away from the prying eyes of Prohibition agents. Events often also feature a tarot reader, a pop-up vintage jewellery shop, a sketch artist and more.
Celebrate the joys of spring with a night of revelry at our historic ballroom in south London, just minutes from a tube station.
There will be live jazz and ragtime music from the mighty seven-piece Trudgeon's Troubadours and, when the band aren’t playing, there DJs the Bee’s Knees will be spinning vintage vinyl. Presiding over the merriment will be cabaret Host with the Most, Champagne Charlie.
There will be scintillating burlesque from international star Jolie Papillon.
Elsewhere tarot reader Lucius will be waiting to tell you what 2025 holds in store, while sketch artist Sophie Williams will be on hand to immortalise you in your Jazz Age finery.
As a special treat, George Tudor-Hart of the Black Tie Ballroom Club has offered to host a 30-minute dance class in one of the period's popular dances (TBC) at the beginning of the evening from 7.20pm. This is free for all who would like to take part.
Guests are encouraged to dress in 1920s outfits no jeans, T-shirts, trainers or hoodies.
