Sunday Lunch at The Architect, Bath
Overview
When we did our City of Bath weekend, we kept being drawn back to this place, in addition to it's beauty, and great location, the menu and the staff were great. It's about time we had a Sunday lunch here, and one of my lovely local members has kindly offered to host.
I have booked a table for just 8 people, at 1pm. I am sure that afterwards you will be able to enjoy the surrounding areas, it is close to Poultney Bridge (where we took a boat trip) it's just around the corner from the Abbey and the Roman Baths. The Historic Parade Gardens which is just accross the road is now free to enter (previousl only free for Bath Residents)

The Building has an interesting history from it's construction (1899-1901) which required the demolition of several other building to it's conversion to residential use in 1996.
In 1939 it was requisitoned by the Admiralty and used by the Navy and MOD until 1989.
Major Davis’s design of The Empire caused quite a stir. The extraordinary roofline said to depict three classes of people; a cottage, a manor house and a castle, means that it is still a talking point today – described as anything from “elegant” and “eccentric” to a “sunken architectural soufflé”. Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the architectural historian, described it as a ‘monstrosity and an unbelievable piece of pompous architecture’.
