Kayaking or Paddleboarding Session
We'll take to the water for a 90 minute session of paddling.
You can choose to use either the sit on top kayak, or have a go on a stand-up paddleboard.
Single sit on top kayaks are fairly stable and easy to get the hang of so very suitable for the more confident novice.
The paddleboards can be paddled knelt down or knelt up but be prepared you may fall in a few times when attempting to stand up for the first time. Recommended for the more water confident paddler who is up for a challenge!
If you prefer we can also book you in an open top canoe. Canoeing is likely to be a drier option, but the boats are for two people so there must be two of you booking together to choose this one and you'll share the boat.
Includes
- Hire of your chosen craft
- Use of a buoyancy aid, which you must wear once you enter the waterfront area.
- Use of a wetsuit if you wish. Wetsuits are strongly recommended (particularly if hiring a paddleboard).
Location & Itinerary
Doe Park is Bradford’s specialist centre for outdoor activities and education, situated on Doe Park reservoir in Denholme.
There are toilets and changing facilities available.
This session is not instructor-led.
Paddlesport activities carry inherent risks, which cannot be entirely eliminated; in particular, those associated with cold water. Participants must be aware of and accept the risks, whilst taking responsibility for actions which minimise the risks to acceptable levels.
Doe Park is just over ¼ mile from the main A629 road through Denholme, which is to the west side of Bradford.
In Denholme, turn onto Foster Park (there is a small directional sign to Doe park Water Activities Centre by the street name sign) and follow it along until you come to the centre on your right. There is a free car park on site.
