Steam Train to Minehead Day Trip
Overview
Join us for a day out visiting the seaside town of Minehead on a Heritage steam train.
The Whistling Ghost, sees this steam hauled express head south to the West Country, giving us the opportunity to enjoy an early Summer Saturday as we travel to the Somerset seaside town of Minehead.
Our train will be made up of heritage railway carriages as we experience railway travel from days gone by. The journey comprises of mainline steam to Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, where we join the West Somerset Railway, a very pretty route through the Somerset countryside as it winds its way to Minehead. Our train will be hauled by two steam locos, one on the main line and another on the West Somerset Railway.
The return journey will see the train storm the famous 1-in-37 Lickey Incline.
You can join the train at Birmingham New Street, Barnt Green, Worcestershire Parkway or Cheltenham.
We should have approximately 3 hours in Minehead, where we can mooch around the town, walk on the sandy beach or visit their many pubs and cafes.
