Spice Dines East – Spice Namaste, Docklands
Overview
Continuing our series of dining out on the east side of London, join us for dinner at Cafe Spice Namaste in the Docklands.
Using British produce as much as possible, this is a contemporary restaurant that showcases Goan and Parsee food, run by Cyrus Todiwala OBE and his wife Pervin. Originally located in Aldgate, it has now moved to a modern building overlooking Royal Albert Wharf; it's the longest running BIB Gourmand restaurant in the Michelin Guide. Cyrus regularly appears on Saturday Kitchen (you can still watch the episode from 15th Dec 2024 on BBC iPlayer) and other TV shows as well as being the author of multiple cookbooks; his innovative approach to Indian cuisine, starting more than 30 years ago, made Cafe Spice Namaste a destination restaurant and he has had a big impact on Indian cuisine in the UK. With a little luck, he will be in the kitchen cooking for us this evening.
With a mix of meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options, starters are £5-£11, mains are £10-£25 and sides are £3-£11. Desserts are £3-£9

Cafe Spice Namaste is a 5 minute walk from Gallion's Reach station (DLR). It's possible to park for free nearby - see the restaurant's website for information.
Walking directions from the DLR: After you exit the station, turn left at the Co-Op (the elevated DLR track should be behind you) and walk to the traffic lights. Turn right into Gallions Road. Where the road starts to curve round to the right (Navigation Court, a lilac coloured building, should be in front of you across the road), turn left then immediately right into the pedestrian walkway / car park that's to the side of that building. Facing the Royal Albert Wharf sign & estate map, walk straight ahead and then cross the footbridge. The restaurant is on the other side of the bridge.
