Sunday Walk: Chat Moss near Cadishead
Overview
An almost completely flat walk of great interest circumnavigating the Little Woolden Moss Nature Reserve. The paths are raised above the general level of the moss and therefore provide good vantage points from which to see the local wildlife. The area is also the site of a rare Romano-British promontory fort, and a Grade II listed hall surrounded by a small area of parkland.

Location & Itinerary
Grade 5: 6 Miles with very little ascent (35 metres/116 feet) - please refer to the walk grading information within the website FAQs HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.

Directions: From Mcr get onto the M60 and exit J11, signposted A57 Irlam. Follow signs for A57 Irlam and after half a mile turn right at the traffic-lit T junction, again signed A57 Irlam. Go past the City Airport on your right and through various junctions until after 1.3 miles you fork right at the traffic island, signposted B5320 Irlam. You’ll notice a petrol station on your left immediately after forking off onto the B5320 – there are toilet facilities here in the far in the far left hand wall of the store attached to the Greggs shop. Continue through various junctions in the built-up area for 2.6 miles, passing the entrance road to Irlam Station en route, and turn right into New Moss Road (immediately after Cadishead Library). After 0.4 miles you cross over a bridge and continue ahead of you, now on an unmade road, for another 0.4 miles, which is where New Moss Wood Car Park (postcode M44 5JT for SatNav) where we meet is on your left.
