A Day on The Canal - Alvechurch
Overview
Come with us for a relaxing and fun day on the Canal with a picnic and pub stop.
We have hired the boat exclusively for most of the day and will travel along the canal to Hopwood, a journey that will take about 4 hours, there and back.
Heading north out of Alvechurch Marina, an hour’s cruise will take us to Hopwood, travelling over an aqueduct and past the Bittell Reservoirs.
These two reservoirs were built by the canal company and completed in 1837 to feed the canal and compensate local mill owners for water loss during the construction of the canals. They are now popular attractions for anglers, walkers and bird watching. Just after Bridge 67, we will reach the Hopwood House Inn which is a great place to moor up for a break. After Hopwood House we can continue our journey and travel through the 2726 yard Wasthill Tunnel. We should then reach our ‘turn around’ point and start our return journey.
The ‘Away Day’ canal boat is 35ft and has a fridge, 2 burner hob / grill, sink, bathroom, cutlery & crockery indoor/outdoor seating door seating.
Please note that we have to decide viability by Weds 13th August 2025.
