Chasewater Railway and Brownhills Common Ramble and optional beer festival
Overview
In line with the national Rail 200 celebrations, come and join Rob Smith this special railway themed ramble with a difference. We have a beer festival with Live music and a ramble all in one and you can even leave the car home.
The Ramble: Enjoy an easy 6-mile ramble from Chase water. Initially, we will use their steam railway with great views as we travel part way around the reservoir however you can join us us slightly later just for the walk. We walk through Chasewater country Park, The Dam and Anglesey Wharf, the source of the Wyrley and Essington Canal from there, we leave the canal as we make our way to Brownhills, via the mc lean way which is a disused railway where we have a coffee stop. The return is via Brownhills Common, Clayhanger and finally, Brownhills Common as we make our way back to Chasewater.
Beer festival: This year the railway is hosing a beer festival so you can stay for this after the ramble if you wish, or you can just join us for the Ramble. There is a free classic bus connection available form Lichfield bus with connections for the cross city line and further afield from Lichfield Trent Valley
Timing: Rob will meet anyone catching he 10am bus from Lichfield, arriving at 10:35. If you are meeting us there Rob will meet you in the booking office at 10:45. Train departs at 11am
We aim to return to Brownhills for around 14:30 food is available from the tearoom from local vendors on site.
